Usercentrics is a consent management platform (CMP) provider and was founded in Munich, Germany in 2018. Usercentrics’ SaaS solution enables companies to collect, manage and document user consent on digital channels, such as websites or apps, while maintaining high consent rates for data processing.
What problem are you trying to solve?
How do you differ from the competition?
Part of our USP is great integration capabilities. Today we can offer our customers more than 2,000 tech and channel partners. Our global integration for Unity is the first and only Consent Management Platform in the cross-platform game engine’s Verified Solutions Partner Program, for example. Also, our solutions integrate with services from Wix.com, Amazon, Google and Shopify, to name a few.
Customization and individualization of the CMP are also two of our key assets. The Consent Management Platform offers many customization options in the Admin Interface for UI styling, and it’s also possible to design a completely custom user interface with the browser SDK. Text customization for individual data processing services or additional legal texts is also a special feature. These apply mainly to our Enterprise customers. With Cookiebot CMP, we can address even more SME customer needs worldwide as well. The Cookiebot CMP solution impresses with a powerful deep scanning technology that automatically detects and controls all cookies and trackers on a website until consent from the user is obtained. With the merger of the two companies we can now bundle our expertise and address even more customer needs with individual solutions.
Where do you see your company going in 5 years?
The ambition of our newly formed joint venture with Cookiebot is to become the category-defining leader for consent management solutions to give users back their data sovereignty, freedom of choice and their right to information. With our product rollout in the Americas we plan comparable market penetration there to what we have achieved in Europe.
What is the next big challenge in information security?
There is a strong shift in consumer concerns and businesses’ priorities in the direction of user trust. Citizens are increasingly demanding more clarity into – and control over – how their information is being used. Privacy, technology, martech and diverse frameworks can be hard to understand, and on the customer side this could lead to quitting the relationship with a company. So if companies want the users’ data they need to create trust, and trust starts with transparency, clarity and user control over data.
